Subject: Freelanders can do it
... Last Saturdays trek to the Nightingale Mountains (again) in Nevada. This
time running with a bunch of highly modified Jeep Wranglers. Great fun and a
few dents. ... It was really amazing what we were able to force the Freelanders
through considering that we do not have a two speed transfer case, big engine,
high clearance or lockers ...

Subject: Me again
Hello again,
I may as well bring you up to date on the exploits of the little Hippo.
Since I last wrote, I've added a few more skid plates, rock sliders and
larger and more aggressive tires. I've also joined that group of
off-roaders in Fallon, Nevada.
With the Fallon club I've been on treks to the ghost towns of Aurora,
Fletcher, Del Monte, Placeritas, Tunnel Camp, Seven Troughs, Poker Brown,
Star City and Unionville, Nevada and Bodie, California. Have also done a
few local trips in California. One recently to Sierra Buttes and Gold Lake
area with three other Freelanders.
Saturday I will be heading out with two other rigs to the Virginia Range,
north-east of Virginia City. Next week I will be trail-bossing a trek of
ten rigs (half of them Land Rovers) to the central Nevada ghost towns of
Ione, Berlin and Grantsville by way of Buffalo Canyon. The little Hippo
has provided fun ccess to some wonderful places off the beaten path. I'll
try to get you some good ghost town photos.

Subject: Freelander 10 Month Status
Good morning,
Just thought I'd drop you a line to let you know how much I love the car
and appreciate the friendly attention and help of the staff at Rocklin
Land Rover Centre. Just for your information, I'm the old guy with the
beard and the 2002 Epsom Green Freelander S.
The car has been everything that I'd wanted of it. I now have 19,000 miles
on it. Have added some home-made skid plates, home-made rock sliders, the
LR hitch receiver and the LR door rub strips and now it's perfect. Of
those 19,000 miles, more than 5000 have been in roadless areas of Nevada.
It seems capable of going everywhere. A little more ground clearance would
have been nice - but that's why I added the skid plates. I thought that my
'99 Subaru Outback was the cat's meow in snow but the Freelander is better.
Grant LeMeaur made the purchase and trade a very relaxing, enjoyable
eperience. Jim Mitchell and the service staff have been very helpful (even
though I do much of my own servicing - should I be saying that?). The
parts guys are great. And the ladies at the desk are super friendly. I
find myself buying my maintenance parts one at a time just for an excuse
to come by and say hello more often.
Keep up the good work. Feel free to use me as a reference for other
potential Freelander buyers,
Ron Cunningham

Good morning,
Posting my letter on your web site is really neat! I've since sent all my
friends the site address to look at my pictures. Maybe they'll all become
Land Rover customers.
This past Saturday I went on another small expedition with an off road
club from Fallon Nevada. Mine was the only Land Rover and was also the
only stock vehicle but I was able to keep up. Every one of the other guys
is lifted with oversized tires and have locked differentials. A couple
pictures attached.
Regards,
Ron

Elizabeth,
Can't help myself. Gotta share with everyone the capabilities of the
little beast. This is where I did the most damage to my homebuilt
skidplates last Saturday.
